Another day, another continent. Strictly speaking Marrakech is in Africa but it feels quite distinct from anywhere else i’ve been to despite being less than a 4 hour plane ride away. I first came here in the late 80’s as penniless student travelling around Morocco. It hasn’t changed much in the intervening 30 years, still pretty captivating especially at night. The open-air food stalls in the Djar El Fnaa square make for a photogenic backdrop, and Hassan’s here is perfectly lit to capture the drama of a food-as-theatre experience.
