In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

Naples

“The only thing Manchester doesn’t have is a beach” famously declared Ian Brown. It’s true that I save particular place in my heart for those cities that are fortunate to offer Sun, Sand and Culture. Naples is a pretty mad place but fascinating and exciting in equal measure, and make no mistake, the best Pizza in the world. This city beach is in Mergellina, a couple of km’s or so away from the main centre which made for a hot walk on a summers day but worth it in the end.
